This week in writing 2 was mainly focused on our WP1. On monday we were paired in groups to review our WP1 drafts. The groups helped a lot since it gave us feedback on what we wrote. I wish I would’ve listen to one of the comments however, and shortened my paper to only 5 pages instead of 8. However, the commentary did help me improve some of my paragraphs like giving more analysis to quotes and such. Wednesday however was the best part in terms of learning something new. We learned about the reverse outline. The reverse outline is basically taking apart your paper after you have already written it. This honestly helps a lot since if we struggle to pick out parts of our own paper then we know for sure that readers will have even more trouble. The reverse outline also us to point out the flaws in our own paper like if we used to little textual evidence etc.. For my WP1, I choose Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC as my sources, since two of three have a party bias, so they present things differently. I was surprised however when I read the CNN article and it was biased with an opinion. The reason for this surprise was because CNN is usually an independent source that does not align itself to a party. So it came as a surprise when CNN had an opinion and MSNBC did not. This was a major MSNBC and CNN essentially switched roles with the first being unbiased and the other being biased. I also learned from Zack’s comments that I need to be more argumentative with my thesis and more forward with my statements instead of being repetitive.
